Gili Meno, the tropical island dream, is the middle and at the same time calmest of the three small coral islands - the Gili Islands - in the northwest of Lombok/Indonesia. It is surrounded by snow-white, fine sandy beaches and crystal-clear turquoise water, which invites you to snorkel, swim and dive. There are neither cars nor scooters, the only means of transport on the island are bicycles and horse-drawn carriages. On foot you circumnavigate the island in approx. 1 1/2 hours.

Villa Sayang is unique to Gili Meno - offering you the perfect tropical island stay in a lovely, architecturally-designed villa set in a large, spacious tropical garden. Relax in style and peaceful comfort, just a few minutes walk from idyllic white sandy beaches.

Are you looking to get-away from the hustle and bustle and disconnect from the busy world? Would you like to truly relax on a sun lounge by the pool, or cosy up on the sofa with a book, enjoying the breeze as it comes though the open-air lounge? Enjoy the scent of frangipani flowers around you and perhaps even our mahogany and neem trees. Or the aroma of newly baked bread wafting across from your host Silvia next door.

Do you like the freedom to chill your wine or make a cup of tea in your own kitchen, and yet be minutes walk from delicious local food in the village or fresh seafood at resort restaurants along the beach?

Gili Meno, the tropical island dream, is the calmest and least-developed of three small coral islands, the Gilis, situated just off the northwest coast of Lombok, Indonesia. Its warm, crystal-clear turquoise ocean will invite you in to swim and snorkel with sea turtles. Or have fun scuba diving with the thousands of colourful tropical fish! With no motorised cars or scooters here - no traffic! - the only transport is by bicycle or horse-drawn cart. A leisurely walk around the island will take you just 1.5 hours. And there are many other activities to enjoy on the island including horse-riding, exploring the nature, yoga, massages, reflexology, kayaking and laid-back live music.

Villa Sayang is only 200 metres from the most beautiful beaches on the east, where you can watch the sun rise next to the majestic Mt Rinjani on Lombok. In the evenings, take the short walk through the island’s villages to the west side, where you can sip cocktails as the sun sets across the ocean with Bali in the distance.

We built Villa Sayang with original antique and reclaimed wood in traditional Lombok style, making every effort to minimise our impact on our precious environment. With a love for detail, East and West meet here harmoniously.

Downstairs, there’s an open living and dining room and a well-equipped kitchen, and a large exotic open-air bathroom with hot water shower. Upstairs are two double bedrooms with mosquito nets and fans (extra beds and baby bed available on request) and a second living room. There’s also a long balcony ideal for relaxing on the daybed and sofa while enjoying the view over the gardens and pool. We offer complimentary WIFI, drinking water, tea and coffee any time; and for guests who’d like the optional extra breakfast, we have a select menu with delicious homemade treats.

The Villa is one of just two on our property that we offer to guests. As well as the new swimming pool and our own house, each are discreetly spread out with plenty of space between, on our 5000sqm of land, one of the oldest and largest private properties on Gili Meno. We are situated amongst coconut groves and surrounded by nature and wildlife, and yet just five minutes walk from Gili Meno’s ‘central and harbour’ area.

Here at the Villa, as well as on the whole island, it is simple to keep your distance from others. We provide soap and water at our entrance and we maintain high levels of hygiene for the safety of us all. Of course we reassure guests that the Villa is always cleaned to western-style professional standards between each stay.

Your hosts, Saleh and Silvia Bagis, will be delighted to welcome you and ensure you have a wonderful holiday on this paradise island. Saleh and Silvia both speak German, Indonesian and English. They’ll be on hand if you need anything during your stay, and are happy to help organise your transfers, tours and activities..

How to get there

By air: fly direct to Lombok via Singapore or KL, or via Bali or Jakarta in Indonesia. We can organise your pick up and transfer to Bangsal, our nearest harbour, where public speedboats and small boats (sampans) depart regularly for Gili Meno. Or to Teluk Nara where a private speedboat can whisk you across any time.

Across the ocean from Bali: there are many fast boats that come directly from Bali to the Gilis (with only a few that come to Gili Meno). We can help you with all your tickets and transfers.

Slow ferries also connect Padangbai in Bali to Lembar in Lombok.

During your journey to Gili Meno we recommend a stop at our ‘Guesthouse Sasiba’ on Lombok.
